Search for Missing Teenager
The crew of a sail training vessel moored in Royal Quays Marina raised the alarm shortly after 8pm when they became concerned at the behaviour of one of the teenagers in their care who was acting in a distressed manner close to the River.
The all weather lifeboat, which was already about to refuel at the marina, was asked to stand by as members of the TVLB arrived on scene, finding that the youth had now run away from the marina.
The TVLB carried out a search of the area with no sign of the missing youth. After approximately 30 minutes the lifeboat was stood down while the TVLB continued with the shore-side search in conjunction with officers from Northumbria Police.
A short while later, the missing teenager was located by the TVLB team passed back into the care of a police officer and the crew of the yacht.
