Seven stranded anglers rescued by Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat
The skipper of the 8m angling boat called Humber Coastguard for assistance at 10:23 after his vessel’s engine suffered a fuel problem leaving the boat without power a mile north of Tynemouth pier.
Tynemouth RNLI all weather lifeboat Spirit of Northumberland with 6 crew launched a few minutes later and set off to locate the casualty vessel.
The skipper of the angling boat maintained good communications with the lifeboat, commanded by Deputy Coxswain Dave Robinson, and the lifeboat was soon alongside her and a tow quickly attached.
The anging boat and her seven occupants were towed back to safety at Royal Quays Marina without further incident and the lifeboat returned to station at 11:15.
