The inshore lifeboats of Tynemouth.
All of the inshore lifeboats stationed at Tynemouth have been variants of the RNLI’s workhorse lifeboat, the D-Class. Starting with a simple inflatable boat with a small outboard, it has been evolved into the current IB-1, with an electric-start 50hp engine capable of 25 knots and equipped with the latest satellite navigation combined with electronic charts.
