Tynemouth RNLI all weather lifeboat was paged at 11:27 after the skipper of the 11m coble Hartley radioed Humber Coastguard for assistance. Launching just seven minutes later the lifeboat headed north at best speed, quickly locating the broken down vessel at the buoy, four miles north of the Tyne piers.
The lifeboat’s tow rope was attached to the Hartley which was then taken to safety at her home port of Blyth, arriving at 12:35 without further incident.
Once the coble was secure alongside the quay the lifeboat returned to station arriving at 13:25 after refuelling.
