Man Rescued From Marina

Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat launching at night

A MAN was rescued on Sunday night after he was found in the water at St Peter’s Marina, Newcastle.

Humber Coastguard requested the launch of Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat at 22:15 after they received reports of a partly-clothed person clinging to the side of the marina. Police and Paramedics attended and the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade were also tasked to assist on shore.

Launching just five minutes after being paged, the volunteer crew sped upriver to the marina. Arriving at 22:37 they found that the casualty was being brought out of the water. Two crew members went onto the jetty and assisted the other emergency services as the casualty was resisting assistance. Once he was in the care of paramedics and police the lifeboat was stood down and the crew returned to station, arriving at 23:06.
