A GTynemouth RNLI Golf DayOLF day to raise funds for Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat station has been hailed a success after raising £2200 for the lifesaving charity.

The Golf Day was held on Friday September 4th at Tynemouth Golf Club and attracted 15 teams of 4, from local businesses and groups of enthusiastic golfers.

The organisers are grateful to Kidd Spoor Solicitors of Whitley Bay for sponsorship of the event. This generous gesture set the event off to a great start, helped by many local businesses and individuals donating prizes.

The winning team was Westerhope  Tile Centre. In second place was Kidd Spoor Team 1, with third place going to Henry F Dodds Insurance Brokers.

Organiser David Stenhouse, keen golfer and Lifeboat Operations Manager at Tynemouth RNLI, thanked all concerned:  ‘The RNLI is entirely supported by voluntary contributions and the funds raised from the Golf Day will help keep our lifeboats at sea and our volunteer crew members trained and equipped.

‘The support from Kidd Spoor Solicitors and the participating teams and supporters has ensured the success of this year’s event and we offer our sincere thanks to everyone involved.

‘Thanks, too, to the staff at Tynemouth Golf Club for their help on the day.

‘This years’ event builds on the great success of previous Tynemouth RNLI Golf Days and we hope to see everyone again next year.’
