Search for Woman By Tynemouth RNLI Lifeboat

Tynemouth RNLI Inshore Lifeboat was launched at 12.12am on Friday morning after Humber Coastguard received a request for assistance from Northumbria Police who were responding to reports that a 25 year-old woman was acting in a distressed manner at Dolphin Quays, North Shields Fish Quay.

As the lifeboat approached the area it was reported that the casualty had entered the river and was swimming out of the former Haddock Shop dock into the river. After a search by the lifeboat crew, police officers and members of the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade the casualty was located on the riverside by the Police. She was then taken into custody and all search units stood down.
