As the lifeboat approached the area it was reported that the casualty had entered the river and was swimming out of the former Haddock Shop dock into the river. After a search by the lifeboat crew, police officers and members of the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade the casualty was located on the riverside by the Police. She was then taken into custody and all search units stood down.
