Both Tynemouth RNLI lifeboats launched to assist people in the sea

A REPORT of people in difficulty in the sea off Seaburn led to both Tynemouth RNLI lifeboats being launched this morning.

Humber Coastguard requested the launch of the all weather and inshore lifeboats at 10:46am after they had received a report that a group of people, possible children, were in difficulty in the sea off Seaburn.

Sunderland RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was also launched.

As the lifeboats neared Souter point, 3 miles south of the Tyne piers, Sunderland lifeboat had recovered the casualties from the water and had taken them to shore where they were placed in the care of paramdedics.

The Tynemouth lifeboats were then stood down and returned to station.
