Body recovered by Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat

A BODY discovered floating in the river Tyne near Newcastle’s Millennium Bridge has been recovered by  volunteer crew members from Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat station.

The inshore lifeboat was requested to launch upriver at 9am after Humber Coastguard were asked for assistance by Northumbria Police. It is believed a member of the public reported seeing the body.

Arriving on scene around 20 minutes after launching the three crew recovered the casualty onto the boat and took it to waiting police and paramedics at a jetty near St Peter’s Basin. The lifeboat then returned to station.
