Jetskier rescued by Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat

A Jet Ski and rider were brought to safety by Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat this afternoon after the watercraft broke down in the river Tyne.

Humber Coastguard was informed that the jetski had broken down at 13:52 by RNLI beach lifeguards at South Shields. The inshore lifeboat was launched a few minutes later and sped to the area where the craft had been reported although owing to confusion as to the exact pier the casualty was closest to it took a few more minutes for the lifeboat crew to locate it, near the south pier at Littlehaven.

Once the lifeboat was on scene the craft and rider were towed to safety at South Shields slipway and the lifeboat returned the short distance back to station.
