Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat station

Cruiser towed to safety by Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat

A LUXURY cabin cruiser was towed to safety this afternoon by Tynemouth RNLI all weather lifeboat after it suffered engine failure just yards from the lifeboat station.

The skipper of the vessel called for help at 16:42 after his engine failed while passing the lifeboat station and Humber Coastguard Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre immediately requested the launch of Tynemouth RNLI all weather lifeboat to go to their assistance.

After travelling the short distance to the drifting boat the volunteer lifeboat crew quickly attached a tow rope and took the vessel and her occupants to Royal Quays Marina, North Shields.

Once the casualty was safely tied up the lifeboat returned to station.
