An 8m angling boat was escorted to safety today (Monday June 23rd) by Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat after it suffered engine failure.
The all weather lifeboat was on a routine crew training exercise on Monday evening when the crew was requested by Humber Coastguard to go to the assistance of the vessel off the coast at Whitburn.
After locating the boat the lifeboat crew found that the skipper of the vessel had managed to get his engine restarted so it was decided that the lifeboat would escort her to safety at her berth in Sunderland Marina.
Once the vessel and her crew were secure the lifeboat returned to the training exercise.
