Small boat towed to safety by Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat

Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat station boarding boat

A SMALL boat with two occupants was towed to safety to day after the vessel suffered engine failure close to the notorious Black Midden rocks.

Two crewmembers utilised the station’s boarding boat to go to the rescue after they noticed the vessel drifting dangerously close to the rocks at 13:30, quickly attaching a tow rope and taking the boat to safety at South Shields where the vessel could be moored.

The crew then returned to station.
