Stranded anglers rescued by Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat

TWO anglers were rescued by Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat this afternoon when their boat suffered engine failure, leaving them stranded a mile off Marsden, South Tyneside.

Humber Coastguard requested the launch of Tynemouth all weather lifeboat at 13:15, and once in the area the lifeboat crew quickly located the casualty vessel, a 7m coble with wheelhouse.

A tow rope was attached and the vessel and her occupants towed to safety at Royal Quays Marina without further incident.
