THE discovery of a body at the bottom of cliffs at Marsden, South Tyneside prompted a request  by Northumbria Police to Humber Coastguard for assistance in recovering the casualty from the inaccessible location.

Humber Coastguard requested the launch of Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat at 13:38, and the all weather lifeboat was also launched to supper the smaller boat.

Arriving on scene it was found that Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team who had also been tasked were able to carry out the task of raising the body to the top of the cliffs and the lifeboats were stood down once the operation was completed, returning to station soon after.
