REPORTS of a possible missing person led to Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat being tasked by Humber Coastguard to assist in a search for the man who had been said to be threatening self-harm.

The lifeboat was already launched on a routing exercise at 17:36 when coastguards requested the lifeboat crew to search the areas of Marsden and Frenchman's Bay, South Tyneside, but after a short time the mas was located by police, safe and well in a nearby pub.

The search was called off and the lifeboat crew resumed their exercise.
