Two men on board stranded angling boat rescued by Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat

Two men on board a stranded angling boat were rescued by Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat this afternoon when their boat’s engine failed, stranding them just off King Edward’s Bay, Tynemouth.

The lifeboat was requested to launch at 14:44 by Humber Coastguard and RNLI beach lifeguards kept watch on the vessel until the lifeboat arrived on scene.

Arriving at the casualty vessel it was taken under tow to safety at Royal Quays marina.

The lifeboat then returned to station, arriving at 16:40.
