A REPORT of children trapped by the tide led to Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat being launched this afternoon.

Humber Coastguard tasked the lifeboat at 16:38 after they received a call from a concerned member of the public informing them that they had heard children shouting in a small bay near Marsden, South Tyneside, and thought they had been cut off by the tide.

Arriving at the small bay the volunteer lifeboat crew discovered the children were playing and had an easy and safe route back to the walkway. The lifeboat then returned to station.

Lifeboat (relief): D-720 Norma and Bill Burleigh
