The skipper of the Blyth-based Tina, a 14 tonne 11m wooden vessel build in Denmark in 1973, made a VHF radio call to Humber Coastguard at 10.25 reporting that his vessel was stranded 14 miles east of Blyth.

Tynemouth RNLI all weather lifeboat was immediately requested to launch in assistance of the Tina and reached her in less than 30 minutes. A tow was quickly attached and the casualty vessel towed back to Blyth without further incident, arriving at 13:15.

The lifeboat then returned to the Tyne.
