Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat tows angling boat Sapphire to safetyTWO anglers were rescued today by Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat volunteers when their boat’s engine failed, leaving them stranded two miles south east of the Tyne piers.

Humber Coastguard received a distress call from the skipper of the 7m Sapphire at 11:30am and immediately requested the launch of Tynemouth RNLI all weather lifeboat, which reached the casualty vessel at 11:45.
