TYNEMOUTH RNLI all weather lifeboat was requested to launch at 14:43 by Humber Coastguard after they recieved a call for assistance from the skipper of a 21' angling boat that had suffered engine failure close to the inside of the south Tyne pier.

The lifeboat reached the casualty vessel just two minutes after launching and the volunteer crew quickly got a tow rope attached to her, taking her and her four occupants out of danger, and onwards to a safe berth at Royal Quays Marina, North Shields. After ensuring the vessel was securely moored the lifeboat returned to station.
