Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat launched to assist angling boat
Tynemouth RNLI all weather lifeboat was requested to launch at 18:17 after the skipper of the 23' angling boat Claire Louise requested an escort into the Tyne after he had been surprised by the sea state and wind when trying to return to the river from sea.
The lifeboat steamed immediately towards the vessel that was reported to be just outside the Tyne piers, but Port of Tyne Pilot launch Bewicke had already provided an escort to the Claire Louise which was now safely inside the harbour, close to the south pier.
After ensuring that the anglers needed no further assistance the lifeboat returned to station.
