Two men onboard powerboat rescued by Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat

Two men were rescued by Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat after their powerboat lost its propeller, leaving it drifting in the middle of the lower Tyne harbour, close to the South Shields Groyne light.

Humber Coastguard requested the launch, at 19:22, after the men made an emergency telephone call.

The lifeboat reached the drifting boat just a minute after launching and quickly attached a tow, taking the men to safety at South Shields slipway. After ensuring they were safely ashore the lifeboat returned to station at 19:40.
