Evening Chronicle Wish campaign 2011 Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat station

AFTER months of dedicated collecting, Chronicle-reading supporters of Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat station have amassed an amazing total of 71,108 Wish tokens, earning the lifesaving station a £882.02 share of the £50,000 Wish cash fund.

Since October last year 275 community-based good causes joined the Wish campaign and the response to our own appeal was overwhelming, with hundreds of people collecting Wish tokens for us, and out of the 275 groups taking part Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat station had the third-biggest total of tokens collected.

David Stenhouse, Tynemouth RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager said: 'The response to our Wish appeal was tremendous.

'Hundreds of envelopes containing Wish tokens arrived in the post throughout the campaign from Evening Chronicle readers all over the region'

'All of the Wish money we receive will be used directly by the volunteer crew of Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat station to help save lives at sea and everyone at the station would like to express their sincere thanks to everyone who collected tokens for us.
