Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboatTynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat was requested to launch by Humber Coastguard at 08.55am after they received a report of a female threatening to jump into sea from cliffs at Frenchmans Bay, South Shields.

The lifeboat went at speed to the scene as a precuation should the woman enter the water and was requested to keep out of sight so as not to provoke any reaction from her as police attempted to negotiate his return to a safe location. After approximately twenty minutes police reported that they had the woman in custody and the lifeboat was stood down, returning to station at 9.40am.
