Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat was requested to launch by Humber Coastguard at 4.19am after they received a request from police when a man had been seen to fall into the river Tyne from the Gateshead Millennium bridge.

As the lifeboat crew  passed Felling on their way upriver they were informed that the casualty, a man in his 30s, had been recovered from the river by the Tyne & Wear Fire boat and taken to hospital by paramedics. The lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.
