Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat rescues two trawlersTynemouth RNLI all weather lifeboat was launched at 13:55 after the skipper of fishing vessel Good Fellowship radioed Humber Coastguard for assistance after his propeller fouled on floating debris while he was towing another trawler, Trustful, to safety after her propeller had become fouled on her nets. Both vessels were left stranded 11 miles south east of the Tyne piers with a total of six fishermen aboard.

Arriving at the stranded trawlers the lifeboat crew set about organising a tow to the Good Fellowship and from the her to Trustful. Once that was established the convoy set off for the slow haul to the Tyne.

Close to the Tyne piers, another trawler, Good Intent III offered assistance and stood by as the lifeboat took the two trawlers alongside to ensure they could be manoevred in the harbour and onto the jetty at North Shields Fish Quay.

After what the coxswain described as an 'interesting' shout, the trawlers were placed onto the quayside in turn and once they were securely tied up the lifeboat returned to station, then set out shortly afterwards on exercise.
