Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat rescues motor cruiser 051111

Tynemouth RNLI all weather lifeboat rescued two people aboard th 13m motor yacht Pax when their boat's engine failed leaving them stranded and drifting towards South Shields pier end.

Taking sole command of a service as Coxswain for the first time, recently-qualified Deputy Coxswain Ian Black launched the all weather lifeboat at 11:47hrs and reached the casualty in just a few minutes.  The Pax was taken under tow alongside the lifeboat and taken to safety at Royal Quays marina. The lifeboat refuelled and returned to station at 11:45hrs.
