Welcome to Tynemouth Lifeboat

Tynemouth RNLI station is situated on the East Quayside at North Shields, just inside the mouth of the River Tyne on the North East coast of England. The station and its volunteer crew provides a round the clock marine search and rescue service covering local coasts and up to 100 nautical miles out to sea.

Tynemouth's IB1 inshore lifeboat "Mark Noble"New Inshore lifeboat: The station has taken delivery of a new inshore lifeboat, donated to the charity in memory of the brother of the donor. The £29,000 lifeboat is named "Mark Noble" in memory of a Tyneside man. It is an updated version of the lifeboat station’s existing D class - one of the workhorses of the RNLI fleet - and is known as the Inshore Boat 1 (IB1). More info and photos can be seen here.

Lifeboat Day 2008! Our annual harbour day will take place on Saturday July 19th, starting at 11:00. Once again there will be stalls and attractions, hot food, and o the Quay Motorcycle Club will be holding a rally in the nearby Low Lights Car Park. Highlight of the day will be an Air Sea Rescue demonstration with both of our lifeboats and a Sea King Rescue helicopter from RAF Boulmer.
